I’m well aware that box remounting saves some money but if it’s so beneficial, why aren’t all departments doing it? Why is it that you don’t see departments or companies buying older ambulances then remounting the boxes on a new chassis than selling it? There are a ton of ambulances out there, and this is not done often.

Crab, usually the GM chassis had a lower GVWR than the Ford so that probably wouldn’t be an option. That’s why you don’t see many GM chassis ambos. At least that’s how it was when i was still on the job. Not sure about 2021/22 chassis.

It would cost more than a brand new unit to modify the box to fit on a different type of chassis. Perhaps a GM van chassis might work but it’s best to stick with the same one for it to snap in place.

Harry you can’t remount a box that was and an E series onto an F series as the frame rails are different. If you chose to remount you must stay on the same chassis.

i would personally get the f series gas chassis at least as for mounting a lot have done it and a lot more will in the future and if it saves money why not
