From the Fire Service, Inc. Facebook page:
A special thanks to Fire Chief Puknaitis, Deputy Chief Scheller, Fleet Services Project Manager Tracy Rulo, & the Naperville FD apparatus committee on their purchase of a 2021 E-One e-Max squad. This unit was highly customized and built to handle Naperville’s large footprint. With over 38 square miles and a population of over 148,000, this unit will surely get a workout. We appreciate the continued business from this excellent customer.
Thanks Danny and Daniel

DH, Orland’s problems are not weight related, as of yet. A lot of their problems were right from the plant. Fuel tank leaking, dash gauges lit up like a Christmas tree, compartment doors not closing right, loose wiring, outriggers not stowing correctly, emergency lights coming on at random, etc. Then they had problems with the electric nozzle on the main. It did it’s own thing regardless of where they tried to position it. They had powerplant issues too but that’s a Cummins problem.
I dislike the whole single axle quint thing. We’ll see what Orland’s does since they run that thing out the door about a dozen times a day.

DH – Agree 100% Quints look great in the public eye and the politicians eye. They do a little of everything but nothing well. In addition, they have too much to fail on them.
Often times, we see problems with reputable brands not because the manufacturer produces a bad product, but because the spec was insufficient or someone altered something on the rig. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the radio guys butcher something causing issues!

Tim- Orland’s only E-One is the Metro quint, which a lot of departments have issues with single axle 100ft quints. Its too much weight on a single axle. One-hundred foot straight sticks are fine, but you add in the weight of water and a pump, just seems to do more harm than good…

Crab, the problem is a lot of depts. are short sided and don’t look at more vendors. They may be afraid to try someone else or they just go with what they’re used to, maybe out of comfort. Or (here’s the elephant in the room) someone on the dept. is getting kick backs or favors from a particular dealer.
My old dept. liked a particular salesman although his product was questionable.

Exactly Tim. Spend more on a SEAGRAVE or SUTPHEN and they’ll save money over time plus cut down on aspirin for headaches.

Orland’s only E-one has been a complete train wreck. So much so that they went back to Pierce which has become a train wreck of their own.

E-One is one of the better apparatus builders on the market. Much better than Pierce, Ferrara, and KME. E-One cabs and aerials are top notch!

marty i know that franklin pk il has a 2018 eone 100 ft truck and they have been having very good luck unlike the seagrave they had that was broke all the time

At least PIERCE is part of the green movement. They are pitching all electric apparatus and they’ll rust away so all they have to do is park them behind the building when they get too old and there won’t be much left of it. All kidding aside, at least it appears that SEAGRAVE and SUTPHEN build for long durable life.

I wouldn’t be surprised if at one point REV consolidated some nameplates. KMEONE.

Sharp looking pumper squad. Are extrication tools located in the extended bumper compartment? The only thing I’m surprised they didn’t go with being a “Squad” is a telescopic light tower.
