It will still be a PIERCE since they will build it along with their sister OSHKOSH division. But it won’t be a true custom PIERCE.

Rich S, I agree with what you are saying and I think that you are probably correct.

Will perhaps this rig be built on a stripped FREIGHTLINE chassis so it will look like an RV or bread truck? Regardless, it will be interesting to see it.

This vehicle could also be built by Frontline Communications which is a division of Pierce in Clearwater Florida.

I will find out for sure but I believe this rig may have been bought outside of the fire department budget. Being that its a command van it may have come from the OEMC budget. And there is a big difference in a command van and fire apparatus on the street. If this is constructed on a commercial chassis it’s not really a Pierce. In my opinion anyway. But I agree an E-one would have been much better.

like I have said b4 when people said that Chicago wont buy pierce again well this proves I was right that they will while I think eone would have been a better choice because of the large amount of eons they have and have coming

For a you pierce hatters they are ate largest manufacturer out there and have towns consistently buying over and over again

When you read the contract it gives a list of chassis to be built on and almost all of them are some variation of freightliner with the exclusion of a velocity and an enforcer chassis. And the Pierce stuff on the contract is signed from Florida so there’s very little custom that comes out of Florida mostly it’s where Pierce does their commercial cab stuff.

It will be interesting to see which chassis they put it on. Maybe Frieghtliner would be my best guess

I don’t know for sure, but my guess is this won’t be on a Pierce Chassis. The Florida plant builds the Saber Cab & Chassis rigs for Pierce along with all the commercial cab and chassis (International, Frieghtliner, etc). When it comes to Chicago Choosing Pierce, The HGAC only allows the buyer so many options when it comes to buying a rig/unit from it. Without knowing the options, Pierce might’ve been the only option with the HGAC.

This is quite surprising! After all the Pierce issues on the ladders I thought the City of Chicago would never buy another Pierce. I’m curious to know what this vehicle will consist of considering it’s nearly 1 million dollars!!! The contract states this is coming from Florida which indicates it would be on the Contender body. BIG $$$$$ for a crappy Contender!

If I had to guess, it would likely be built in the SABER chassis.
That is a surprise.

WOW!!!! From what I read on this site I thought the city would never buy pierce again.
