This from Larry Shapiro:
I was able to photograph the current apparatus for the Frankfort FPD. Here are the ambulances and buggy.
Thanks to everyone that assisted me.

A lot of metro Phoenix, Texas and metro DC have been using pickup trucks for years as Batt Chief and other ranking officers vehicles.

Harry Pederson is such an expert. Amazing how he needs correction on almost every post he makes. You will see more and more departments utilize pick-ups in the future. I would like to see pictures of how the bed is setup.

Mike hit the nail on the head. That’s why they went with the pickup.

I think that they have a f750 ambulance and a international ambulance as well

Harry many are going to pick up trucks because they don’t want to store bunker gear and other stuff that absorbs carcinogens in the same passenger area as they would be riding in. I’m not sure you know this but we have a pretty big cancer epidemic in the fire service. Maybe if you were a firemen you would understand better.

harry do you speak from experience as a chief? may departments all across the country are going to large SUVs and pick up trucks for command staff or chiefs vehicles. FDNY uses pickup trucks for its chiefs, they have a slide out the length of the inside of the bed under the truck topper, it includes thhe the necessary equipment for on scene operations.
