Excerpts from wbay.com:
The Appleton Fire Department says a firefighter was killed Wednesday during a shooting at Valley Transit Center. The firefighter’s name has not been released, but the firefighter had been with the department for 14 years. The firefighter, a police officer, and two others were shot at the transit center Wednesday afternoon.
A procession was held overnight in Milwaukee as the firefighter’s body was brought to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel lined the street as emergency vehicles escorted the firefighter to the medical examiner. The fallen firefighter was draped in an American flag.
Meghan Cash of the Appleton Police Department says police and fire departments responded to the transit center for a medical call shortly at 5:30 p.m. While they were treating the person, “the incident escalated into shots being fired.” Police are still trying to determine what led up to the shooting and exactly how many rounds went off.
Because the shooting involved Appleton police officers and firefighters, the Green Bay Police Department was called in to investigate the incident with the help of other agencies. Appleton, Kaukauna and Fox Valley Metro police departments, Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene.

Mike C. He was transported to a local Appleton hospital for treatment. Wisconsin is kind of weird with stuff. I think many counties don’t have coroners or medical examiners and they contract that to Milwaukee county.

I’m deeply saddened by such an unjust murder. May God bless his soul.
Was this firefighter transported too Milwaukee for the autopsy or was he transported before his passing to a Milwaukee hospital with more specialized treatment? The reason I ask is because Appleton is pretty far from Milwaukee.

I doubt we will be carrying soon. We aren’t even allowed to carry doing entries with the police in active shooter incidents.
