Marty I presume that when you say he, you are talking about the fire commissioner. If that is the case I wonder what his answer is to providing EMS service for an ever increasing demand.
Is he for farming the service out to private ambulance companies? Or perhaps is he for the city creating a seperate EMS department as a 3rd service? Even though you don’t hear too much about them there are a few cities that have a seperate EMS department providing ambulance and paramedic services. Austin Texas, Denver, Pittsburg, and Boston all run separate EMS departments. Even with separate EMS divisions, the fire departments still send first responders on some of the medical emergencies but they don’t transport. In a mixed system like what is found in King County Washington and in Milwaukee County Wisconsin, the fire department ambulances only handle the serious potentially life-threatening emergencies and the BLS transports are done by private ambulances contracted by the city.

Bill, the word is placed in such a way as it can mean either location or the rig being in service at all. This gives him an out to yank them it would seem. He’s not been a fan of nor very progressive toward EMS.

That’s exactly what I’m asking. What is this provisionally supposed to mean?
Just using that term almost seems to imply that the assignments are not permanent. The locations seem to be good and they are obviously where the action is. Of course it would be good to have even more ambulances in service but the fact the 5 were put in service simultaneously on the same day is still pretty good.

Why is “provisionally” in each order? ?
