  So on the days that Truck 18 is having maintenance done Skokie runs with 2 tower ladders. Des Plaines runs with both of their trucks as tower ladders.

  Even though most larger departments tend to run with more straight aerial ladders than tower ladders or platforms in comparison, there are a few that run with more platforms. There are even a few departments whose entire aerial fleet are platforms.
  Phoenix, Arizona which is now the 5th largest city in the US according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, has a fleet entirely made up of platforms. Thirteen of their fourteen truck companies in service are assigned tower ladders while the fourteenth has a 114-foot Bronto Skylift. Each of their truck companies is assigned a ladder tender which a medium sized rescue squad that may be used to respond to EMS or other non fire emergencies in place of the platform.

  Skokie Truck 18 was in the Reserve Truck on that day which is still labeled Tower 16.

  According to the MABAS dispatch log, Skokie tower 18 arrived as part of the third alarm at 1450 hours while Skokie engine 16 arrived as part of a special call at 1712 hours. A Skokie tower was positioned at the S/E corner of the furthest south building. This is documented in several photos and videos that have been posted on this website.

  This doesn’t seem accurate. I know Skokie Tower 16 was there, and I do not believe Skokie Truck 18 was.
