This from Steve Redick:
We were right around the corner from this job in Harvey at 156th & Myrtle. Not much to see but I never get to any fires in this part of the world.

There was absolutely no reason to change the whole division over to the Mabas numbering. Yea, they do that up north but out south its all confusion. The div 22 number system which is the old District 2 number system was actually a better system.

Wow, quite a numbering system…Sounds like a classic way of jacking up something that didn’t need to be fixed. What advantage was there of switching the numbering of an entire MABAS division when there are probably 5 or six different dispatch agencies covering them all? I’d imagine there are some real problems in that area that could’ve warranted a little more attention. PS: That HC is Engine is pretty damn sharp.

All of Mabas 24 renumber their stations and vehicles. Harvey numbers are 35, 36, 37, & 38. Station 38 (old number 4, is closed). Harvey Engine 6 is Engine 35 and Tower 2 is truck 35. The ex Dixmoor E33 was running as Engine 8. I’m not sure which station it’s out of now. So it’s either Engine 36 or 37. Same goes for Engine 5, for years it was assigned to station 4 but after that station closed it moved around. Just a guess but Engine 8 is 36 and 5 is 37 now.
You can see that the number change over is slow. Doltons Tower says 15 on the cab doors but you can see the old 1443 number on the basket.
Markham got numbers 33 & 34. I don’t know what 1533 is now it’s possible that it stayed 33 with just luck of the draw.

What’s with the hydrant? Why did the hook it up like that?

Thanks DH! I don’t recall them having a Seagrave. So few are sold in this area that it’s usually pretty easy to keep track of most that are sold in the Chicagoland area.

Mike C, HC has had that Seagrave for awhile (unless they got a newer twin that I am not aware of), but according to the website, it is a 2009 Marauder II 1500/500

Michael. Engine 33 is the ex-Dixmoor engine that Harvey inherited when Dixmoor closed. Dixmoor is still defunct. The engine is running for Harvey but has not been renumbered since March of 2014. Engine 6 is ex-Westmont 1832.

It looks like they might have re-numbered some of the rigs in Division 24.
I thought they closed the Dixmoor FD, did they re-open it or did one of the neighboring towns take over the Dixmoor station? Is Engine 6 a old engine from West Chicago?

Does anyone have any specs on the Hazel Crest Seagrave pumper? I never knew they had this.
