This from Steve Redick:

Got a good jump on this one, pretty spectacular for a few minutes. Two good sized explosions occurred while I was there. The roof was in quickly and also some early wall collapses as well. One serious exposure to a good size frame dwelling that was pretty well held in check despite some doubtful conditions. Two towers and a Snorkel operated and several in-line operations were conducted to supply the master streams. Not sure why the water supply was such an issue unless the proximity of the fire building to the JFK expressway had something to do with it. Perhaps some dead-end mains.
