Excerpts from the Journal-topics.com:

A Des Plaines FD tower ladder was dispatched to the Walgreens at Miner Street and Graceland Avenue early (Thursday) for a report of a man stuck on the roof.

An unidentified man was on the roof, apparently there to retrieve his remote-controlled drone that got stuck. A friend of the man’s said he had been flying the drone and landed it on the roof the night before.

However, the drone tipped over and could not be flown to safety. So, he rented a ladder and went up to retrieve it.

Getting down was the hard part, however. The store’s exterior brick walls stand an estimated 25 feet high and the rented ladder was fully extended.

The fire truck arrived and within a matter of minutes, the man had stepped onto the ladder basket and was brought down to safety.
