2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-8-17 (part 2)

This from Dan McInerney:

Took this fire in on my way home from work, and arrived after the fire was knocked. Fire was in a 2 story frame 25×70, with fire throughout the second floor and through the roof. There was a collapse in the rear of what looked to be enclosed rear porches. I believe the 2-11 was for a communication issue to a similar house to the east, which was quickly covered after companies arrived. The entire 2-11 complement of suppression rigs were staged on Chicago Avenue in front of E117’s quarters. Of note was E83’s response on the 2-11 with a light wagon. As evidenced by the ice coating pretty much everything, it was bitterly cold out, and the sun was just starting to break over the fireground.

E117 was first due and had 3 lines off, E96 backed down to feed TL14, and E113 fed the Snorkel.

2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-8-17

This from Eric Haak:

At 0715 hrs this morning (1/8), the Chicago Fire Department was called to 4734 W. Huron for a fire in a 20×70, 2.5-sty frame apartment building. Engine 117 landed less than a minute after being dispatched and confirmed they had a fire. Battalion 18 arrived on scene moments later and reported back porches that had extended into the first and second floor of the original fire building with the “D” side exposure also involved and asked for a still & box. The alarm would eventually be elevated to a 2-11. Temperatures were once again in the single digits this morning

Alsip Fire Department history

This from Mike Summa:

Hello,
This is Alsip’s 1965? ALF pumper.  Unknown specs.  What I do like about it is the light on the roof.  Didn’t Chicago have lights like this?  What was the name of this light unit?  Enjoy, and comment if you’d like.
