Usually yes. The Squad always runs with a 2 man crew. Occasionally either the Truck or the Engine to run with 3 depending on staffing, but never both. It is also very rare that Ambulance 22 is in service.

Are all the companies at station 22 still running as 2 man companies?

The current tower ladder, Truck 22, is a 1999. It was refurbed in 2013. It will replace the current reserve truck that is kept out at Station 24 on the west end of town. The current reserve is a very early 90’s Pierce straight stick, not sure of the model. 3 years ago a village trustee went through the departments citizens fire academy, saw how old some of the equipment was, and they finally started getting new apparatus.

How old is the Current Pierce Dash that this unit will be replacing is it a 2000 Dash or older? I thought the current tower, and Engine 22 and 24 Pierce Quantum’s were purchased around the same time.
I am guessing the current tower will go into reserve?

Hoffman Estates went to black over red close to 20 years ago now. The last rig with the old white over orange/red paint scheme left the department about 2 years ago. It was Reserve Engine 23. When the new Engine 22, also built by Ferrarra, went in service, the old Engine 22, a mid to late 90’s Pierce Quantum went into reserve status replacing it.

It seems like the suburbs are going to the black top like we have but we are going to cheapen our historical look and go the way of the volunteers of old.
