Chicago had a Still & Box Alarm Thursday afternoon (2/4/16) in a vacant 1 1/2-story frame at 6125 S Justine. The fire communicated to exposures on either side of the original fire building, one was vacant and the other was occupied. I arrived as the fire was declared out and stayed for some of the overhaul. Squad 5A is down and they’re using the spare squad that was striped for the television show.

Even if they do get new squads I hope they keep this one as a spare because even though it is older it probably has less miles and it looks way better.

Their assigned second truck is normally a snorkel but because the snorkel is in at fleet service and the spare snorkel g482 is elsewhere they have been given the spare

I saw squad 5 with both of the box trucks yesterday I thought that the squads were walk in so why the need for 2 box trucks

5a is the snorkel. Sq5’s box is the one at shops

Are CFD officers now in blue? It looks like the captain in the picture has a blue shirt with bugles on it.
