This from Scott Peterson:
This is the new tower ladder for Elk Grove Village. It is scheduled to go in-service the 2nd week of September. Tower 7 in Steve’s pictures from the Elk Grove Township extra alarm is actually the reserve truck. We had been running a 75’ straight stick quint ( a Pierce Quantum, Truck 7), 2000-gpm/500 gallons & 30 of foam. That is sold and being stripped this week to prepare for the changeover to the new Quint 7.
The new tower specs are:
100′ Pierce Velocity, 2000gpm/300 gallons (This was a stock Pierce tower)
Tower 7, the 100′ Dash 2000 will go back to reserve once this is placed in service.

For the time being more than likely the Quint will run on Ambulance assist calls, rumor has it that a squad is in the works to allow them to have another vehicle to respond on Ambulance assist calls with.

Does it mean that the quint will run on all call instead of engine 7?? It seems odd that a huge quint would run on an ambo assist!!

M Summa, the old truck wasn’t broken and will remain as a reserve. Elk Grove’s chief, who was an outside hire, did not like that the former truck 7 did not have a pump or water tank on it. So an older quint was placed in front line service and the newer former truck 7 was placed in reserve status. This truck is the replacement for the older quint and will run front line. The former truck 7 will be a reserve as it does not have a tank or water pump.

Out of service. Better question is what’s gonna happen when the new truck needs service? The old tower doesn’t have a pump or tank.

Eng 7 will be in-service whenever Tower 7 is in service.
