This from Steve Redick:
I finally got a chance to take this in. It was very nice, much bigger than I expected. Rig shots were very hard to come by but got some cool stuff. The engine lettered for Rockdale does not belong to them from what I understand. I was happy to finally get to see the Peotone Snorkel.Steve

Why are the hard suctions hoses on the roof of Engine 17? I am guessing it is one of the 1970 Ward LaFrance’s. Which Engine companies did it serve at before Backdraft?

C2/6907A is part of the Haz-Mat response but also to protect Bolt Field which is now a state owned airport right in the middle of Beecher, Peotone & Monee’s Fire Districts. Peotone will be getting Lockport Twp’s 1992 Amertek (former Rescue 5) when they put their “new” rig in service. That is the 1992 Oshkosh TA-3000 formally owned by New Lenox FPD.

That old WARD LaFRANCE is interesting. I don’t recall ever seeing a rig with hard suction hose on the roof.

Who owns the Yellow mini pumper

That is actually the former Normal, IL Snorkel 10 which Peotone bought. Evergreen Park SS3 is the former Wilmette snorkel. The only other 2 snorkels still around in the metro area are Orland 6004 and Bedford Park 705.

No Chuck, THAT is NOT the old Wilmette rig . THIS Snorkel was bought by Peotone from the Normal IL Fire Dept.
#16 by The DH on May 4, 2015 - 9:50 PM
It is from Normal IL

I believe that’s Wilmette’s old Snorkel.

#19 by FARTIN' FRED on May 4, 2015 - 9:37 PM
Is that the ‘engine 17’ from the “Backdraft” movie?
