The Mount Prospect Fire Department received a new Type I Medtec ambulance for station 13. Again, one of the last Medtec units prior to the shutdown, this is on a Ford F-450 chassis with job #25913-1, and fleet #527. This will replace the current Ambulance 13 (fleet #524) which will go into reserve status at Station 14. The Type III Taylor-Made unit (fleet #521) will be disposed of.
This is the first Type I unit for Mount Prospect.

ramp is for loading Ferno model 28 cot.

The ramp is for the type of stretcher that they use. Des Plaines has them as well. I believe it is the Ferno combination stretcher-stairchair they sold for a long time. Anyone from DPFD and MPFD feel free to correct me.

Intersting, I guess the step does not fold up either then. It seems like an add-this, but in turn remove-that, which doesn’t make sense. Unless it aids in loading?
Odd that Medtec is shutting down now that everyone seems to be going with the Ford F cabs, I would have thought business would be good. They are nice rigs, my dept just got one.

Does anyone know what the “ramp” is for on the rear bumper just below the left rear door? I never seen anything like it before, I’m guessing that it aids in landing the patient.
