The former Berwyn Fire Department ladder truck (1997 Seagrave 1750/300/100′) has been sold to Essex Fire Department, MA

Essex, MA- the bid for a used ladder has been awarded to New England Fire Equipment and Apparatus of North Haven CT for a 1997 Seagrave 1750/300/100′. The truck had previously served Berwyn, IL. Delivery will take place after some custom work is completed.

In MABAS Division 21, the North Palos Fire Protection District has been added to the site. The district runs out of three stations, one of which is the former Worth Fire Department which became part of the North Palos district in January of 2009. The Worth personnel, station and apparatus were merged into or became part of the North Palos Fire Protection District.

Mabas Division 41 apparatus

Karl Klotz was photographing apparatus in MABAS Division 41 (McLean County), and submitted several interesting images.

The Calumet City Fire Department has been added to the site. They are part of MABAS Division 24. Calumet City has two stations with Pierce apparatus, and ambulances from Excellance and Medtec. They also maintain a 1914 American LaFrance antique. There area 48 career personnel protecting 7.1 square miles.

Gurnee FD updates
Oct 16
Tim Olk visited the Gurnee Fire Department and submitted images of the new Engine 1312 (not yet in service) and Ambulance 1344 (in service). Both units will be at Station 2. The arrival of these units meant some shifting of apparatus:
- the previous Ambulance 1344, a 2000 IHC/2001 Road Rescue has been disposed of
- the previous Engine 1312, a 1995 E-ONE fixed cab Cyclone 1500/750 has been disposed of
- with the addition of the new command car 1396, the previous unit 1396, a 2000 Ford Expedition will be disposed of
- Ambulance 1343 will relocate to Station 1 where it will be first out
- Ambulance 1341 will be the second ambulance out of station 1 and 1342 will be unmanned
- command car 1392 will become a staff car at station 1

The Palos Heights Fire Protection District has been added to MABAS Division 19. This now completes all of Division 19 departments. Palos Heights has two stations with 22 career personnel covering 4.5 square miles. Each station has a jump company that will staff the engine or ambulance. The ambulance is staffed by two and the officer follows in 6408 or 6418.
Engines are from American LaFrance or Pierce, and the ambulances are either Medtec or Road Rescue. Palos Heights does not have an aerial unit. They also maintain a retire ambulance for their dive team.

The Prospect Heights FPD had their open house on Saturday and Drew Smith submitted the following:
At the beginning of the event we had two ceremonies: One was the dedication of a memorial to Thomas O’Donoghue, past president of the Board of Trustees. The other was the promotion of John Douglas (Doug) Tragesser to Lieutenant.
