Pages depicting the Addison Fire Department in MABAS Division 12 have been updated with several photos from Bill Friedrich. Stations 1 and 3 have new daytime posed photos to replace the nighttime on-scene images that were posted previously. Another photographic gallery representing the current and past fleet of a department has been added. The Grayslake Fire Department in Lake County has a historic gallery featuring 28 images from Bill Friedrich and Larry Shapiro.
Several new patches have been added to the 4th District listings in Chicago. This is the second of many updates to come with patches from the collection of Alexander Alexandrovski. In some cases, companies have more than one patch. Although it is not always clear which is the most current design, each will be posted if possible. In some cases, showing these additional patches requires a new page attached to the station listing by a link at the top entitled ‘Company Patches.’
Josh Boyajian submitted three CFD company patches that were missing from the site.
Chicago Engine 84, Truck 51, Battalion 18
As mentioned in a previous post, another reader, Alexander Alexandrovski from Austrailia, has also submitted CFD patches to update the website. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be adding over 60 additional company patches.

This photo by the late Dan Martin shows a 1950 Mack Type 45 in a local parade.
This beautiful rig was one of two Hi-Ranger aerials in the metropolitan Chicago area outside of the CFD. It would be great to add an image to the gallery of this unit working at a fire!
Wheeling and Prospect Heights Fire Departments responded to a plane that slid off the end of the runway and Chicago Executive Airport this evening. The plane had one wheel off into the dirt and was leaking fuel. The pilot was uninjured.
The Chicago Tribune has a brief article HERE.
This occurred just after 8PM when road surfaces froze due to the drop in temperature. Multiple vehicle accidents within the same hour kept these and other area fire departments busy.
New ambulance for Gurnee
Feb 21
An article in the Trib Local for Gurnee describes the new 2011 IHC 4300/Wheeled Coach Type I ambulance for Gurnee. Funds for the new ambulance were donated by one of the Fire Protection Districts that contracts with the Gurnee Fire Department for service.
Thanks to the Warren-Waukegan Fire Protection District, which works closely with the Gurnee department to cover 32 square miles of incorporated and unincorporated land from Waukegan to Route 45, the Gurnee department will replace an old ambulance with a brand new, high-tech one, said Chief Fred Friedl.
Warren-Waukegan FPD President Phillip DeRuntz will present keys to the new vehicle to the department at 10 a.m. on Friday as part of a ceremony at Gurnee Fire Station No. 2, 6581 Dada Drive.
The entire article along with a photo of the new unit can be seen HERE.
Thanks to Bill Friedrich for finding the article.
