Excerpts from Midweeknews.com:

The Sycamore Fire Department recently received a $1,000 grant from the Enbridge Safe Community Program for the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus voice amplification equipment.

The equipment will enhance firefighter safety and survival on the fire ground as well as increase the safety and capability when first responders  firefighters serve as part of a required two-out group during interior structural firefighting or when they are designated as a Rapid Intervention Team on the active fire ground both in Sycamore and when called for mutual aid responses.

Launched in 2002 as the “Enbridge 9-11 Fund,” the Safe Community program has invested more than $5.7 million in North American public safety organizations, including police and sheriff departments, firefighters, and emergency medical services. The program helps underwrite equipment acquisitions or training that would help organizations better prepare to respond in the event of an emergency.
