Working fire in Chicago, 11-19-16

This from Eric Haak:

On Saturday, November 19th, the Chicago Fire Department responded to the report of a house fire shortly after sunrise.  The Englewood Fire Alarm Office had received two different locations and the first engine arrived at the first address with nothing showing.  The alarm office advised they were also getting calls for 74th Street and Engine 54 landed with a fire a few seconds later.  The residence was occupied but no one was at home at the time.  The last photo shows a little modification made to a spare rig.

Chicago working fire, 7-5-14

This from Eric Haak:

Took in this working fire on the 6100 block of South Washtenaw on Saturday.  I arrived less than 10 minutes in and the fire was already well under control.  I included a close up of the spare tower ladder that TL39 was running with.  Over the weekend, they were running out of spare tower ladders and both TL34 and TL54 were running as trucks at one point or another.  As you can see, the body wear on these old E-One’s is very evident but it seems like they are in service more than the front line rigs.  It should also be noted that Squad 5 was running with the old air mask rig as their box.  Shop # G-487.  Engines on this were 88 and 101 with Truck 41 and Tower Ladder 39.

A passerby called 9-1-1 this morning in Wheeling reporting heavy smoke coming from a house in the area of Strong Avenue and Wolf Roads. When companies responded, they reported a large header which was visible from Station 42 on Dundee Road. The first arriving unit reported fire in an attached garage of a single-family home and requested the alarm be upgraded to a Code 4 working fire.
