House fire in Northfield, 3-26-16

This from Larry Shapiro:

Northfield firefighters were called to 2050 Norfolk Road this afternoon (3/26/16) for a reported brush fire that was encroaching on a house. First arriving companies found smoke from the attic and requested a full Code 3 response before upgrading to a working fire Code 4 with visible fire in the attic. Automatic and mutual aid units included engines from Northbrook, Winnetka, and Glencoe, trucks from Glenview, Wilmete, and Northbrook, plus Highland Park Squad 33. The rear of the house was damaged along with the attic above the garage. The fire was out within 20 minutes of the initial call for service.

Northfield house fire 8-28-11

updated 10AM

Late Sunday night, residents called the fire department in Northfield reporting smoke in the area of the 300 block of Eaton Street. When the fire department arrived in the area, they had smoke from an undetermined source throughout the block. Firefighters were walking the block when the engineer took the rig to the next block over and found heavy smoke pushing out of a one-story, brick, ranch house at 344 Wagner Road.

The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire and Northfield companies went to work. Mutual aid responded from Winnetka, Northbrook, Glenview, Glencoe, and Wilmette. The fire was extinguished quickly. The occupants of the house were not home at the time, but the family dog perished during the fire.
