Lansing had a full still around 15:00 Tuesday (6/21/16) for a house fire on the 2900 block of E. Ridge RD. Fire was knocked after I arrived as it was about a block down from the station. Assisting companies included Thornton, Cal City, Munster, & South Holland.

Just three quick shots from Harvey’s full still Sunday afternoon. I did not arrive in time to get much but with the nice sunlight and blue skies, I thought I would send in a couple of rig shots. Harvey’s first-in engine was the ex-Dixmoor Engine 33. Fire was in the rear porches and gave off an impressive header. Companies did a great job of keeping it out of the attic and keeping it from extending into the rest of the structure which was an occupied residence.

At approximately 1450hrs on Saturday, the Dolton Fire Department responded to a fire in a large storage shed on a vacant industrial property at 142nd & Cottage Grove. The photos in this gallery were taken about 1-hour into the incident. Companies had long lead-outs as working hydrants were scarce on this stretch of road. Calumet City Tower 309 and Lansing Tower 107 were both in use at the scene. Riverdale Engine 836 had a hydrant at the corner of 142nd and Cottage Grove and fed Burnham Engine 2016. South Holland Engine 669 was on Cottage Grove at the entrance to the complex with a hydrant as well. Also pictured is Phoenix Engine 1708 in staging which is the old Engine 72 of Chicago. The “72” is still clearly visible on the door. There was also a request for HAZMAT advisers to the scene. The incident was eventually raised to a 3rd alarm which actually occurred after I left the scene.

Just wanted to share an update regarding Lansing‘s stations. At one point Lansing had 4 stations, but now they are down to 3. Station 1 located at the intersection of Lake ST & Henry ST has been shut down for good. At one point it housed a Mack CF pumper and 1 ambulance, and was staffed full time, just like the other 3 stations. After being placed out of service, it housed unit 7777, the MABAS 24 fire investigations unit. It was moved out when the station completely shut down. Station 4 on 170th ST next to the police station is now known as Station 1. It houses a tower ladder, 1 ambulance and the MABAS 24 investigator unit.

Just wanted to give an update on Lansing‘s new F-450 ambulance. It has been in service for about a month now and operates out of station 3. 163 has been moved to station 2 where it is 3rd due, and 161 is now the reserve also at station 2.Brad S.Glenwood FD
