Chicago Still & Box Alarm fire 5-15-13

This from Drew Gresik:

Hey guys,
At about 11:30 AM on Wednesday, Engine 50/Truck 18 arrived on scene at 5039 S. Elizabeth and immediately requested a Still and Box for the 2.5 story frame very well involved. I arrived about a half hour after the primary searches, and about 15 minutes after 2-2-5 struck the Box. Here are my photos. Engine 84 (using D547) and Engine 49 were in Sector 1 along with Truck 18. 18 laddered the roof. Engine 50 was in the alley next to the exposure building (5041 S. Elizabeth). Other units on scene included Ambulances 1, 57; Truck 51; Engine 39; Command Van 2-7-3, and an Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner.

Flossmoor updates

Bill Friedrich submitted two images adding to the apparatus listed for the Flossmoor Fire Department; a buggy and a brush unit were added. Also, he informs us that Flossmoor has a 2010 Crimson engine on a Spartan chassis which replaced the 1994 HME/Luverne. An image of the new engine is forthcoming.

Matteson house fire 7-4-11

The Matteson Fire Department responded to a house fire late this morning at 946 Princeton. When the fire came in, companies were reportedly occupied on other calls and requested mutual aid right away. Upon arrival, they were met by heavy fire from the second floor of the two-story house. The fire was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm Box Alarm. Units at the fire were from Matteson, FrankfortTinley Park, Park Forest, Flossmoor, Richton Park, Crete FPD, Chicago Heights, Oak Forest, and Country Club Hills.

Karl Klotz got a good jump on the fire and submitted several images.

Local apparatus updates

Dennis McGuire, Jr found two area rigs in production at Ferrara which can be seen HERE.

He tells us that one of them is for the Calumet Park FD in MABAS 22. They’re buying a 100′ tower ladder on an HME chassis (a first for them) which will replace a ladder truck and a engine. Both are already gone as trade-ins.

The second is a pumper for the Huntley FD which is in both MABAS 2 & 5. They’ve ordered a top-mount pumper on a Ferrara Ember chassis with a 1,500-GPM pump and 750 gallons of water.
