10/16/17 NORTH AURORA, IL – North Aurora FD Box Alarm heavy extrication crash, two vehicles under a semi trailer w/ entrapment and double medevac Orchard Rd. and I-88 – Video by Dave Weaver

Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:

Two men died and three others were taken to hospitals after two cars collided with a semitractor trailer Monday at the Orchard Road Interstate 88 overpass in Kane County.

Investigators are looking into whether the collisions are related to two Aurora shootings reported between 11 a.m. and the time of the crash

Working together, detectives from the county sheriff’s department and Aurora Police Department haven’t ruled out that the shootings and crash are the result of gang violence. The colors of the cars that crashed matched the colors of the cars involved in the Aurora shooting

A Jaguar and a GMC Envoy were northbound on Orchard Road, apparently traveling at high speeds, when both cars struck the semi-trailer that was turning south onto Orchard Road after getting off eastbound I-88.

The GMC driver, identified as Christopher Shaw, 23, of North Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMC’s two passengers, one who had been in the front and the other in the back seat, were flown to a hospital. The front seat passenger, Devonte Bouchee, 24, of Aurora, died later in the afternoon, and the back seat passenger, a 23-year-old Aurora man, had injuries that were potentially life-threatening.

The Jaguar driver, a 38-year-old Aurora man; and the truck driver, a 27-year-old from Burbank, were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office and Aurora police are investigating two separate reports involving vehicles chasing each other and exchanging shots in the Aurora area before the crash Monday.

Nothing was apparently hit in the first shooting, which was reported at 11:04 a.m., and the second shooting, at 11:45 a.m. along Nantucket Road and Durham Drive near West Indian Trail Road in Aurora, resulted in gunfire damage to two homes.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the shootings to call Kane County investigators at 630-444-1103 or Aurora’s at 630-256-5500, or Aurora area crime stoppers at 630-892-1000.
