Final acceptance for Calumet Park’s new Fouts Brothers custom chassis pumper. 1000-gallon water tank with a 1500-gpm Hale pump. It will also have a custom Legacy EMS cabinet, extended front bumper, mechanical Q siren, and front bumper discharge after upfitting.
thanks Danny

Are the critics of the 1000 gallon tank considering the fact that Interstate 57 runs through the town?

This is the same FC-94 chassis that Spartan has released to REV.

Craig Mack, hydrant man!? Really? Aside from a large municipal department there is not one person assigned to just get the hydrant. Usually in smaller departments the engineer or the 2nd fire apparatus responding secures the water source for the first engine. Again it doesn’t matter the tank size, the pump size, the suspension, the color, the lights, the axle grease used, the size of the EMS gloves, nothing… it’s all up to what the AHJ wants. If it works for them then who are we to judge.

A lot of depts have 1000 gal engines nothing wrong with it and nothing wrong with a demo rig and they have it nearly right away

Well Dennis, I guess whatever would allow for a hydrant man. Therefore you could have less gallons and longer lifespan of your suspension, tires, and brakes. Especially in the less than spectacular streets in their still dist.

Craig, what’s proper staffing to you?
Also it was a demo so they bought what they could afford.

1000 gallons in a hydrant-ed urban area?? Guess when you can’t staff the rigs properly you need to add water to try to make up for your short comings.

Crab, Fouts Brothers has actually been around a long time, just not popular around here. That is a Spartan chassis.

I never heard of this builder and it does look sharp. Would I be correct to conclude that this a SPARTAN chassis? Kind of a small exhaust pipe.

That hose bed doesn’t look very usable. It isn’t very tall so it doesn’t look like it will hold a hose either LDH or small hose.

Hairy – What in particular would make this hose bed easy to load. It’s way to high if you ask me.

Should have painted the roll ups.

Looks very nice and looks like it should be easy to reload hose after a fire or training
