Everyone is entitled to their own opinions here, but ultimately what is speced out by a department is done for a reason. Fire apparatus are extremely expensive and the prices continue to skyrocket. When the bean counters provide a capital budget for an apparatus replacement, the fire chief has to be fiscally responsible with costs.
Therefore, if the best or most high end product is sacrificed and then substituted with something else, it is done to be under budget. Functionality will come before luxuries in the grand scheme of things.

I’ve seen issues with both the EQ2B and the Q2B. That’s why you get both! I personally like the EQ2B siren accompanied by the Rumbler low frequency speaker. Sirens are pretty critical when responding. I have replaced solenoids on the Q2B and I’ve replaced the amplifiers on the EQ2B. I personally like the Q on the front bumper (not recessed) and the speakers behind the front bumper. This allows for maximum use of storage or use of the front bumper. Having the EQ2B allows you to have a speaker which I like if making an announcement is necessary.
I prefer the LED opticom integrated into the lightbar but these opticoms mounted on the rig will work fine without any maintenance for many years.
I love the HiViz scene lighting but they should have gone with the HiViz LED headlights. The Trucklite LED headlights are cheap. HiViz LED headlights have lifetime warranty.
Interested placement of the Seagrave emblem on the front grill. I would have centered it on the upper grill.
Ultimately, these engines are built very purposeful. Nothing fancy but these two engines should last for 20 years. For the most part, Seagrave builds their rigs the same way today as they did in the 70’s. Some people say they don’t build rigs the way they used to. I disagree. The biggest change we’ve seen in multiplexing.

Harry, your missing the point the q and the screaming eagle have a high amp draw and can cause major issues the the apparatus. The Pa300 is a 100 watt siren. The eq2b is a 200 watt siren more power. The pa 300 is always been a back up siren. I have had to use the pa 300 in place of the q because it went out and no body moved for the 300 because you can’t hear it. The eq2b is just as powerful as the Q. The Bells are off the old Seagraves. It’s call tradition.

the twins look nice i would rather see a federal q or a screaming eagle which sounds similar to the q and ditch the bell and if they dont like the q at least get the pa300 siren like nyc runs

RJ – none of their fire rigs, except the new squad have the integrated opticom. I am sure there is a reason, just like why they don’t have a mechanical Q-siren.
The “buff crowd” has to remember that function, cost and repairability isn’t always the most eye appealing. With rigs costing more and more, departments are trying to save where they can. At the end of the day, its still an opticom and will funtion, whether or not you think its “cool.”
