Mike, Tim posted on another post on here that there are multiple sensor issues with it. Ironically there hasn’t been anything posted on this blog regarding Streamwood’s Seagrave tower. Hopefully it is just a fluke with Lockport’s that can be rectified.

So what is wrong with lockports tower? Nobody has really said anything

I was wrong with the Lockport tower. I really thought they bought a good truck. I have worked on a lot of Seagrave’s over the years and for the most part, they have held up very well. Much better than most other brands.
In my opinion, Seagrave and E-One are the top builders unfortunately, all apparatus builders have built bad rigs.

Mike C you said the same about the Lockport Seagrave tower. I’m wondering who makes a great rig these days. I’ve ridden on e-one junk before. Just curious.

You can blame suppliers/vendors all you want and I won’t stand in your way but EONE or any other builder puts their name on it so they are responsible for what goes out the door. Perhaps they need to go after lousy suppliers. FORD is having bad problems now which some FORD fans are saying that they are fine but those bad suppliers are to blame which is still FORD’s fault for using them. Customers don’t care what the causes are. They want the thing that they paid tons of money for to work as prescribed. Then it doesn’t help matters when instead of going out of the way to correct and appease, they jerk customers around. Competition is a good thing. Try not to get attached or sentimental over one builder or the chances of being disappointed will be increased

Mike C,
I’m not sure how long you’ve been in the fire service, but there was a time when you couldn’t give E-one apparatus away. They had major issues in the late 80’s and into the 90’s with electrical issues. There was even a time when a department was going to take an E-one apparatus to the federal signal plant and hang lemons off of it at the company picnic. Multiplexing systems nearly destroyed E-one, to no fault of their own. Kind of like the steel issues that have plagued multiple builders. Unfortunately, the larger the builder, the more chances there are to have issues. E-one was the largest apparatus builder in the 80’s and 90’s, so there were thousands of vehicles affected. Every single apparatus has the possibility to be a lemon. Quality isn’t manifested with thoughts, confidence or opinions. Quality from multiple vendor supplies such as Cummins, Allison, any pump manufacturer, Multiplexing, steel/metal supplier (I think someone on here talks about that ever chance they get) or any number of hundreds of secondary manufacturers can destroy a company’s reputation. Hopefully all the secondary manufacturers have the same perceived quality as well. If a department designs a vehicle to meet their needs and requirements now and into the future, then any manufacturer can deliver a quality rig, or conversely a lemon.

All of Dolton’s rigs have problems. Both the Sutphens’ are at fire service to be sold/junked. Their Pierce and Rosenbauer have been rotated to fire service, I’ve been there at least once a week for a few weeks now and one or the other is in the shop there. They currently have an x evergreen engine as a spare that does have damage from a car crashing into that they are running frontline basically

Tim – I have a high level of confidence E-One has already put quality into it and the end result will be quality. I would put E-One as one of the best apparatus builders based on my experience.

Mike C how do you know it’s quality it’s not even done yet.

Another quality job by E-One.
I like the Linex steps that enter the cab.
