Franklin Park bought a Sutphen or a Fouts 4 through the Sutphen dealer?

Harry– what does Skokie getting the old Deerfield ambulance have to do with Roselle’s new squad or anything else on that is being discussed on this thread? You question/challenge everyone on this page all the time.

Michael M,
Thank you for the info on Rolling Meadows. 7K miles on a quint is extremely expensive. From my department, that would equate to and estimated 3,500 gallons of fuel, 120-160 quarts of oil, and possibly a set of tires. That certainly makes sense for cost saving and equipment preservation. Does the crew from Truck 15 jump over and placing the truck OOS?
Rich S,
The dual roles for medical response and haz-mat makes sense. With the cost of fuel and maintenance on larger apparatus, this trend may grow IF Ford continues to produce enough chassis.

Mike
Roselle uses this vehicle to chase the ambulance on EMS runs. It’s also part of the alliance hazmat response team carrying decon equipment and such. The crew cab has compartments in it for meters and ALS equipment to be secure.

Harry,
Please stop commenting and keep your thoughts to yourself. When you learn how to punctuate and use proper grammar, maybe the people on this website will start listening/give you credibility? I have felt sorry for you for too long, but enough is enough. Every time I see a post from you, I cringe! Nobody on this site cares about who you know or Palm Gardens! I’m more than willing to help you by proofreading your posts before you post them on this site. Please let me know if you are willing to take me up on this offer? Please seriously consider this offer!!!

bill whos this best friend of yours because u should know i know the franklin pk guys
#11 by harry on July 8, 2022 - 10:27 PM
bill you sound funny because once u said they have a terrastar being lettered that would not happen because franklin pk hated the international ambulances they had years ago and the battalion cheif at franklin pk in charge of the fd fleet said there is an e series ambo on order and they are looking to buy a used engine and franklin pk i doubt would get a crew cab rescue or mini engine not practical for franklin pk they had one around 1976 thought about 1990 it was a dodge
#12 by Bill on July 8, 2022 - 9:46 PM
Harrie my best friend is on the department and why would he lie about a mini rescue and a mini pumper for Franklin Park? He also said there is a used terrastar ambulance being lettered, so maybe don’t believe the fleet manager he probably only deals with Publix works vehicles

tom well truly getting a vehicle in general good luck i had a 2022 ranger on order since april of 2022 i just canceled it tonight not wasteing my time with ford

Harry, good luck getting a standard cab nowadays. Everything is a crew cab from all manufacturers. The days of a stripped down work truck are gone. There is no profit in it like a fully loaded luxury truck. Maybe it was done for wheelbase. Maybe that’s the quickest available chassis they could get vs a special order single cab chassis.

bill i am not sure where u get this info from but last i was told by the bc in charge of the fleet said franklin pk is etting an e series ambulance and maybe a used engine

Mike,
From what I have seen, the towns that run these vehicles use them primarily for EMS runs. This saves wear and tear on a much more expensive engine.
Rolling Meadows is a good example, they saved 7000 miles on their Pierce Quint Truck 15. 7k might not seem like a lot, but those miles chasing the ambulance.
I believe they are currently running the spare BC as the squad until the new one is delivered.

I have seen a couple of towns migrating to this trend. My organization would have little use for a vehicle like this. For the people who are familiar with these towns and vehicles, can you give me some insight? How are they running these? How are they usually equipped? I’m interested in the details and what benefits are being seen with these vehicles. I’m certainly not against the concept, just looking for additional information on this concept.
Thank you everyone.

Like Hoffman Estates, they added shelving to use it for storage of equipment. Other departments have done the same thing.
