Excerpts from the DailyHerald.com:
Some Elk Grove Village Fire Department personnel and equipment moved into temporary quarters Monday at the Rainbow Falls Waterpark & Community Center as renovations are about to begin at Fire Station 7. Under an arrangement between the village and park district, Squad 7 and Ambulance 7 will respond from the Rainbow Falls facility while a $2 million renovation project takes place at the main firehouse, 101 Biesterfield Road. Park district officials chose not to open the water park this summer because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All other personnel and equipment will be temporarily relocated to Elk Grove’s two other stations. The Rainbow Falls location will not be open to the public.
Construction is expected to begin in August at the 1980s-era fire station on Biesterfield. Upgrades will include a new roof above the living quarters, replacement of the heating and cooling system, replacement of the apparatus floor for improved drainage, fresh paint, and new LED light bulbs. The project is scheduled to be complete in early November.

Quint 7 is currently at Station 10, Battalion 2 is currently at Station 8, from going past both stations on Tuesday.
Elk Grove’s minimum staffing is 19, and full staffing is 28. Minumum staffing has Quint 7 and Squad 7 cross-manned with 3, and Engine 8, Quint 8, and Engine 10 with 3 each. Full staffing has Quint 7, Engine 8, Quint 8, and Engine 10 with 4 each, and Squad 7 with 3.
Station 7:
Battalion 2
Ambulance 7
Quint 7
Squad 7 – Staffed by 3, Monday through Thursday 0800-1600. It is otherwise cross-manned or as staffing allows.
Station 8:
Ambulance 8
Ambulance 9 – Staffed by 2, Monday through Friday, 0830-1630, or otherwise as staffing allows.
Engine 8
Quint 8
Station 10:
Ambulance 10
Engine 10
I’m not sure if they’re still doing this, but during the peak of COVID, they were running Reserve Ambulance 10 out of Station 8 and having someone off of Quint 8 respond with it to possible COVID calls to transport.

So that little pick up squad is likely going to be the first in fire rig for the entire center of town? Yikes. If I lived in Elk Grove still, I’d be drumming up a storm.

What will Elk Grove Village’s station and staffing situation be once renovations are complete? I believe they went from 4 to 3 stations. How many engines, trucks and ambulances will be in service? How much staffing on each?

I did pass station 10 the other day, I noticed Quint 7 was stationed there, my guess is they will be running out of station 10. Interesting solution to use the waterpark as a temporary station. I did not realize that station 7 was built in the 80’s.

Is Quint 7 out of service?
