Big Moe, Squad 55 is staffed with 4 personal. If need be 2 guys will jump onto Squad 55A if they need to respond as well. Station 55 also has Battalion 5 stationed with them.

Is it still staffed with two guys and two more jumping from an ambulance? Any larger and it would have to be a tractor drawn rig like Portland, OR and some cities in SoCal.

Schaumburg has the following in the spare fleet:
Engine: 2001 E One 1500/500
Truck: 2001 E One 0/0 Tower Ladder
Ambulance: 2008 International/Medtech
That is it for their spare fleet, there is no dedicated spare for Squad 55 and they run with the spare engine when Squad 55 is OOS. Squad 55A, which they still have, was not sold along with Squad 55, so it runs with the squad often when they’re in the spare engine.

Tyler, thank you! They still have 55A I presume.

Marty, They have in the past also ran Squad 55A with the them when they are in a reserve, but not always. I’m not sure exactly what equipment they put on the reserve, and what they don’t put. They have also ran the reserve truck as Squad 55 in the past.

Just a quick question–how many pieces of reserve equipment does Schaumburg have? Obviously, they have one engine, one ambulance and one truck. Do they have more than one of either the ambulance or the engine? Seems like they should.

Tyler, when squad 55 is running with the reserve engine, much if not most of the equipment on this beast will not fit. How do they deal with that? Presumably they actually may need all that equipment at one point or another. TIA

How does Schaumburg operate when this vehicle is out of service for repairs and maintenace?

I understand that the tremendous sized rescue squad is also a squad/pumper and has a first-due district as an engine. It is the only company that runs out of it’s station besides the battalion chief. It is nice that it can run as an engine however if it has to squeeze into a place with a tight fit they would probably have to request a smaller engine company.
