another question on Buffalo Grove would be is.. what happened to the kme engine that they have/had? is the ferarra engine a reserve? and the kme quint wasn’t that originally quint 27??
thank you,

We are currently working on specs to replace the current Tower 25, with an anticipated delivery in the fall of 2019. At that point, the current tower ladder will become the reserve.

Thanks for the information Andy. I was afraid that Buffalo Grove might have sold the reserve tower ladder. It’s interesting that Wheeling Tower Ladder 24 was also out of service at the time of the fire and Northbrook Tower Ladder 12 wasn’t dispatched due to a mess up of the CAD program. I also understand that Niles Tower Ladder 2 was running with their reserve truck as well.

Andy,
Any plans to replace Q25 this year or in 2019? and have the Tower in reserve.
Thanks,
Rob

What departments from division 20 go?
#6 by Andy Russell on July 29, 2018 - 7:39 AM
BG’s TWR25 was out of service at the time and Q25 was running in it’s place. The tower actually went back in service during the fire and was eventually staffed by call back personnel.
The reserve tower (E-One) was sold last year when the new E-One quint was purchased.

BG sent the 75-ft quint. The other quint was Palatine 83, a 75-ft. It came as an engine on the box.

Drew, was the quint the rig from Buffalo Grove? If so what was it running as? It was Quint 27’s old KME so it must now be a reserive rig. According to the rundown on this website it was listed as Quint 25 however I had heard that Station 25 runs a tower ladder and they also had a reserve tower there. If Tower 25 was out of service shouldn’t they be running with the reserve tower ladder?

You are correct that a truck was not dispatched on the working fire even though one is due. The reason for that is not known currently. However, the CAD is not programed to select Northbrook as the truck. The CAD will use real-time GPS data to select the closest available truck at the time. For this location that may be Northbrook but could be Glenview, Wheeling, Mount Prospect or possibly Buffalo Grove. The box was dispatched nearly simultaneous to the working fire dispatch and Truck 14 from Glenview was sent. A review of the MABAS log shows a total of 11 truck companies counting the Division 20 Task Force. One “engine” sent is also a quint. I have sent the webmaster the 8-page MABAS log.

This is inaccurate. There was no truck sent on the working fire response. It should have been Northbrook, but they were skipped for some reason.
