The county board appoints them, also the way the firefighters have explained it to me, once appointed they serve for three years, with one trustee being reappointed every year to an additional three year term, then next year another trustee gets reappointed to a three year term and the following year the third trustee gets reappointed, so it is like a merry go round that never stops, the only way to get off is to quit or die and then they bring someone else within their circle of friends, to keep the merry go round going, which is destroying this department!

It is very disappointing to see this vehicle being offered for sale. I attended a Lisbon Seward trustees meeting in August of 2017 to show support for our volunteers, so that the board would accept this as a 100% free donation, to help increase the level of service within the fire district . As you are aware the board voted it down. Staying in touch with the firefighters, morale has hit rock bottom, other vehicles are out of service, and the number of firefighters continues to decline. This is a 100% volunteer department that operates two stations and covers approximately 65 square miles, with many large farming operations with multiple buildings, grain bins, ect. along with equestrian estates and very large residential structures set back off the road. How could a vehicle like this not be a benefit? As a taxpayer of this fire district could someone explain to me how to remove a backward board of trustees that are appointed, not elected? so that we can have different thinking trustees so that our volunteer department can flourish and not continue to decline.
