An overnight house fire injured two Lake in the Hills residents Sunday. The Huntley Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire about 3:45 a.m. in the first block of Newbury Court, Lake in the Hills.

When firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames, Battalion Chief Mike Pierce said. Two residents were home at the time. They were out of the house when responders arrived at the scene, and they were flown to a Rockford hospital with injuries, Pierce said.

The house has been deemed uninhabitable, but a damage estimate was not available Sunday. Crews cleared the scene about 9:30 a.m.

Fire officials heard a report that the residents had dogs, but the animals had not been found Sunday morning, Pierce said.

The Huntley Fire Protection District, state fire marshal and Lake in the Hills Police Department are investigating the fire.

Fire crews from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Fox River Grove, Woodstock, West Dundee, Hampshire, Crystal Lake, and Rutland-Dundee assisted.
