Michael and Frenchy, the current engine 51 has an extra cabinet behind the engineer and officer that has room for an SCBA and turnout gear. This cabinet is now gone and the storage space is behind the jump seats. There is more room inside the cab because the cabinets behind the engineer and officer are gone. Guys from Schaumburg tell me that neither the officer nor the engineer really used the cabinets and they took up a pretty large amount of space within the cab of the engine, so they did a small redesign of the cab. Engine 51 will carry EMS equipment as it’s an ALS engine, but that’s not changing, it has been an ALS engine for many years.

Will it have more room for equipment than the current engine 51? I am guessing in addition to dive equipment it will also carry EMS equipment as well.

So are those tall compartments to store firefighter turnout gear or EMS equipment. Anyone know of a way to get an engineering drawing for this engine so we can see some measurements?

So nice to see the black CFD top on that rig.
