MABAS 21 the City Of Gary Garage fire was on December 22,2006. The building used to be the Sears Warehouse when it was still in Downtown Gary.

yes MABAS 21, back in 2008 or ’09 the City Garage burned. Several engines, a TL, a tanker and several staff cars were all lost as well as the SWAT truck and a majority of the snow plows. I was the 1st due B/C on the fire, less than 30 second response time and smoke was already coming out of the mortar joints in a block square bowstring warehouse.
Harry, it’s probably no, no and no to your wishes. That city still runs with 1996’s in front line service, we didn’t get new toys very often, just duct tape and bungee cords.

I’m sure the city will try and salavage parts or even try to run this front line knowing how Gary works…LOL

The fire at the maintenance garage was in December of 2006 and destroyed a 1989 LTI Olympian tower ladder, formerly Tower 7, and the 1989 GMC/Pierce mini pumper called Squad 2. Both rigs were in reserve or retired status. This rig originally served as Engine 1 but it’s pump was no longer working and for a while it ran as Squad 2. At the time of this fire I don’t think it was in use unless its pump had been repaired at some point.

Didn’t Gary have a fire several years ago at their city garage that destroyed apparatus and the building?
