These were not true B models or L Models — they were a hybrid model where you have L Model Cab and Hood Sections mated with a heavy duty radiator and a B Model Fenders

Crabby I think the different grille is because this was (not 100% positive though) a B-75 model. Note it doesn’t even have the standard B-model cab, but an older L-model one. In fact the only things which were a classic B-model style on this one were the fenders.

An interesting bit of history is that all four of the Mack Magirus aerials were initially put in service with single truck company houses. Truck 10 was located at 1613 N Hudson and they weren’t relocated to their current quarters at 548 W Division until over four years after the house opened for Engine 4. Truck 3 was at 158 W Erie until Engine 42’s new house opened on November 1st 1968. Truck 39 was at 25 S Lafin until being taken out of service on June 16th 1969. That’s when Engine 103 moved into quarters in their place. Truck 39 wasn’t put back in service until almost five years later on April 1 1974 at Engine 123’s new quarters. Last but not least, Truck 30 had been located in a single truck house at 6017 S State, however shortly after Truck 30 was assigned it’s 1959 100-foot Mack Magirus on November 2nd 1960, Engine 51 was relocated into their station on November 13 1960. So Truck 30 was given the new rear-mounted Mack Magirus in order to make room for Engine 51. Before Engine 51 was relocated to Truck 30’s house, they were at 6345 S Wentworth just south of the old Englewood Fire Alarm Office.

I’m not much of a MACK fan or apparatus built on commercial chassis. However, this one really looks nice.
The grill looks a bit different than most MACK B models.
I see that bus hiding back there.
