I was at home when a call came out for a house fire at 7946 Madison Avenue, in Munster (3/29/15). I stopped by and they had it knocked, but I got some photos. While operating at this scene they also received a call for smoke inside an apartment a couple blocks away from Station 2, which turned out to be burned food. Since most of the rigs were tied up at the other fire, they called Schererville and Lynwood for assistance on the 2nd call. At the 2nd call, I got a good shot of Lynwood’s Mack CF, one of the few Macks left in Cook County.

I would venture that the mileage is extremely low and lynwood doesnt run a ton so wear and tear is at a minimum on the rigs

So engine 1830 is their newest engine and it’s a 1994… over 20 years old?
Hey, if it works and is well maintained it doesn’t give us anything to gawk at, but probably saves the tax payers a lot of money.

I wouldn’t use Fred’s exact words even though I’m not much of a MACK fan. Manual transmission is very rare these days even in reserve. Personally, I wouldn’t take any vehicle that had stick if they gave it to me.
(Unless they a swap in an ALLISON) 🙂

Lynnwood’s fleet includes two E-One Engines and the Mack CF plus a brush truck, equipment truck and two EMS chase vehicles. The Mack CF is a true classic as it very original in appearance with the single rotator, original body and minimal updates plus a manual transmission. Definitely one of the few Macks around that has not been extensively refurbished.

I believe 1840 is their out of town (M/A) rig. They have another engine, an e-one 1830.

Well, MACK stopped building those in 1990 so it would be a true classic being that it’s over 25 years old. Must be a reserve though. Good question though.
