Chicago 2-11 Alarm Fire 8-3-13 (more)

Here are a few of my shots from the 2-11 at the corner of Harrison & Spaulding.  Engine 107 was first due and is shown parked on Spaulding.  The rear wall collapsed within the first 15 minutes of 107’s arrival.  Also shown is Engine 44 which was feeding Tower Ladder 5 on Harrison just west of Spaulding.  Also seen are 2 images of sector 1 of the auto detailing shop.  There were two overhead doors in sector 1.  In one image, there was a 1960’s vintage Cadillac parked right behind that door.  The fourth image is just after a portion of the roof collapsed.

Buffalo Grove FF Diagnosed with Cancer

FAMILY & FRIENDS ARE UNITING TO RAISE MONEY TO HELP RYAN MCCARTHY IN HIS FIGHT AGAINST CANCER.

Ryan McCarthy, 25 years old, is a firefighter/paramedic in Buffalo Grove, IL. He has a 2 year old son, Liam. Ryan was diagnosed with B-cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He will undergo 6 treatments of chemotherapy over the next three months.

The money donated will be used for:

  • Healthcare coverage:prescriptions and chemo
  • Transportation to/from Robert H Lurie Cancer Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Downtown Chicago where he has treatment
  • Housing (would like to help pay for his mother’s home since she has Multiple Sclerosis and is living off disability)
  • Healthy Food

Danny Gonzalez July 21, 1964 – August 1, 2013

It is with tremendous sorrow that the Lake Zurich Fire/Rescue Department announces the unexpected death of 13-year veteran Firefighter/Paramedic Danny Gonzalez. Danny began his career with Lake Zurich in August 2000. During his time with us:

  • He was actively involved in the department’s Training and Safety committee where he put his knowledge to use teaching both veteran and rookie members in the arts of fire science and technical rescue.
  • He successfully challenged the latest lieutenant promotional exam and was an acting officer when needed.
  • He was a past President of IAFF Local 3191.

In addition, Danny was a past member of the South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District where he began his fire services career, and a member of the Kane County Sheriff’s Police Correctional Division.

Danny also served in the United States Marine Corps and was involved with the local Marine Corps veteran’s group.
