Mt. Zion Fire Department rebuilding

The Mt. Zion Fire Protection District lost a fire station and apparatus this past May due to a fire. They have rebuilt the station and just took delivery of a new tower ladder.

Their website has photos documenting the entire process of rebuilding from the fire. Photos with details beginning with the fire can be found HERE, followed by demolition, and updates on reconstruction HERE, HERE, and completion of the project HERE.

thanks Martin

Where are they now … Palatine (update)

This is the first of many posts in a new series entitled Where are they now ... where we will follow the re-assignment of area fire department apparatus that finds new life in a new home.

From Bill Friedrich:

As it turns out, the whereabouts of this unit are as yet unknown.

The Community Fire Company, of New Ringgold, PA owns a Seagrave engine which was NOT originally from Palatine, IL.

new ambulance for Grayslake

This from Matthew Goss:

Hey CAF Admins,

Love the website, you guys do a fantastic job. I saw Grayslake had their new ambulance come in at Advocate Condell Thursday afternoon. Its a 2012 Ford F-450/Road Rescue Ultramedic Type 1 ambulance listed as 2740. I do not know what station it is out of, but I’m thinking it’s Station 3. The guys i talked to said they got it in service a week or two ago. If you want to update the website showing it that’d be great. I did not get a picture as Condell’s ambulance bay was full at the time.
Keep it up
Matthew G

Live fire training in Woodstock

The Woodstock Fire Protection District continues to train in a group of  model homes that was offered for their use. Yesterday, yet another house provided multiple evolutions for room burns before it was burned to the ground. Tim Olk and Larry Shapiro were on hand to photograph the day’s events.

Tim submitted several images.
