Box Alarm in LaGrange Park 7-24-12

This from Josh Boyajian:

LaGrange Park had a box alarm this afternoon, it looked like they had a power line fall and caught a house and a garage across the street from each other on fire. There was mutual aid from all over including a new battalion buggy from Tri-State and Bellwood’s new tower ladder. I took a few pictures but all the fire was knocked.

The LaGange Patch wrote:

The La Grange Park Fire Department was called out at 3:24 p.m. July 24 to a house fire at 1401 Newbury. The fire was out within 25 minutes

Departments from La Grange; Oak Brook, North Riverside; Pleasantview; Bellwood; Hinsdale; and Westmont were in the scene.

The Chicago Tribune reported:

The pilot of a small experimental plane was able to stand and talk to emergency crews after crashing near the lakefront on the Southeast Side, police said.

The pilot, William Yamokoski, remained in the emergency room of Northwestern Memorial Hospital as of 5:10 p.m., according to a spokeswoman for the hospital, who said she did not know if he would be admitted overnight.

Calls started coming in about 1:37 p.m. about the crash of the single-engine plane near 9500 S. Crilly Drive, near a Chicago Police heliport, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

The pilot appeared to be a man in his mid 40s or 50 who was standing outside the plane when emergency crews got there, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Joe Roccasalva.
