This from Keith Grzadziel:
I just passed the Homewood Acres station and spotted another “new” engine parked alongside the X-Burbank Mack. It is the X-Plainfield Engine 1912, a Ford C8000/Pierce. Not sure of the year or GPM but I know it has a 1000 gal capacity. Sorry about the crude pics I attached, but its a sneak peek. Have a safe holiday weekend!

Thanks Dave. My goal for the smugmug site is to show the past and present. Some interesting things are in the works.

OK, I found the answer to my question about the tank on the John Bean engine. Go to Bill Friedrich’s site, go to an album titled “Cook County South Rigs That Have Served” and towards the end he has that engine with the Holbrook markings, as well as 2 other engines and the step-van used as a squad. East Joliet revamped their website and no longer has a picture of it as Engine 531.

Good Luck Lee! Will the planned response area be the same as it was years ago before the fading of the dept? With Hazel Crest and Country Club Hills as a/a?

Volunteer once we get established running calls see where our call volume is at. Talk of volunteer manning in the future. Never know what the future holds. Tuesday nights at 19:00hrs are training nights if photographers are interested feel free to stop by and take pics.

Can anyone tell me where the extra 200 gallons of water went on the E. Joliet/Holbrook/ Glenwood engine went? It was listed as a 750 tank, but it only had 550 when it was in Holbrook. I was on Holbrook, but got fired in 1997 just before the district shut down.

Hey Bill! No didn’t get a chance to look, what’s behind their station?
