The Mount Prospect Fire Department handled a fire several weeks ago in an attached garage at 133 Gregory in unincorporated Cook County.

Drew Smith provided the following description:

Two story house set back from the road about 150 feet.

Fire in the garage which communicated into a wall adjoining the house.

Garage contained a work shop with a large amount of tools, machinery and welding tanks.

(Glenview) E8 used a 2&1/2 inch line to knock down the fire.  It was a stubborn fire due to the garage storage.

A second line went into the house to check for fire spread.

The interior house wall adjoining the garage was opened as was the ceiling of the first floor near that wall and some additional fire was located then extinguished.

GV E8 was apparently first on the scene followed by MP E14 and Tower 13. I believe GV is part of the code 3 in that area along with PH A9.

Code 4 companies included myself, PH E39, DP battalion, and DP Truck 81.

Tim Olk, has been playing catch-up lately while he tries to get up-to-date with posting all the images that he’s shot. He recently submitted a few images from the scene on Gregory.

Drew provided some history on the area where the fire occurred:

Gregory is part of unincorporated Forest River.  Forest River subdivision has a fire district that has contracted with MP since 1970.  Before then, Forest River had their own FD.  The old MPFD Station 14 was the forest river station.  I’ve attached an old FRFD photo.
